Ride to town with us!

Our "homework" in language school each day has involved getting out and talking to people around Salatiga in Indonesian. So a couple days ago we incorporated that into a trip downtown. So from our little neighborhood here we hopped on the "bus". Here, the buses are all these little blue vehicles about the size of a Volkswagen bus called "Angkota" (sp?) pronounced "on coata." The ride was about 25 cents per person, kids not included!



The problem with the Angkota is they stop running at 6 pm! So to get home, we took the other form of public transportation.......

In the US this kind of thing is a novelty, sort of a fun date thing or something. Not so much here, it's just a regular way to get around. (We thought it was fun though)






It was a blast! A little scary at times. That poor horse earned his hay that night.

This first slide show is of our our journey here and our first few days in Indonesia that we spent in the "big city" Jakarta. It is very different from where we live in Salatiga!

Life is very different here, but strangely it is already beginning to feel more normal, even after two weeks. When we first got here, we were just overcome with how different it is here. I am sure we are being upheld in prayer as we are able to take some things in stride that are just so different. It will be fun to share those differences with you as we go!
